Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant

The Jefferson County Conservation District (District), an organization dedicated to the conservation and restoration of natural resources, is recruiting for a Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant.  This is a half- to full-time, at-will, non-union position. The Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant is responsible for both financial and various administrative duties, including processing all accounts payable and receivable, preparing monthly and annual financial reports, overseeing District Supervisor elections and appointments, preparing and disseminating monthly board meeting materials, taking board meeting minutes, records management, and various other administrative and human resource management activities.  The Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant reports directly to the District Manager.

The Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant should have a high level of knowledge, skills and abilities in:

  1. Bookkeeping, including Intuit QuickBooks proficiency;

  2. Computer software usage, including all Microsoft Office applications;

  3. Organizing, planning, prioritizing, and managing multiple tasks under minimal supervision;

  4. Maintaining accurate records regarding time-keeping and authorized expenses;

  5. Working as a team member in a small office setting;

  6. Familiarity with the operations of special purpose districts or other local governments is preferred.

Wage Range and Benefits

$25.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on qualifications, plus generous benefits package that includes 11 paid holidays, paid vacation and sick leave, employer-paid health insurance coverage, and enrollment in state retirement program. Compensation will be awarded based on education, experience, and demonstrated capabilities.
